About Me
I was born and grew up in the town of Woodstock, Ontario. My father was a machinist and my mother taught middle school. Both were union members, my father being very active in his local. I am their only son.
In 1998 I moved to London, Ontario to start my university education. After earning my BA in Political Science from the University of Western Ontario in 2002, I moved to Toronto to start graduate studies in Political Science at York University. I earned an MA in 2004 and am currently writing my thesis for my PhD. I also taught politics for six years while at York.
I am married to my wife Sabrina, with whom I have had three beau\tiful children: Katrina, age 6, Sacha, age 3 and our newest addition, Ashton, age 1 month. Together, we have lived in Toronto, Guelph and Oakville, before returning to London in the fall of 2011 for me to start a new program in Corporate Communications and Public Relations at Fanshawe College.
I have been a political activist since starting university, working with a variety of groups on issues related to poverty, human rights and social justice. In addition to this, I joined the New Democratic Party in 2009, and became active in my local Riding Association in Oakville. I was privileged to be the NDP candidate in the 2011 Federal Election, where I achieved the highest result for my party in Oakville in over 25 years.
My future plans are to complete my program at Fanshawe and find employment working as a communicator in politics, either with government or the NDP. I also plan to complete my PhD thesis on Ontario farm politics and to publish my research as a book.
